An illustrated page from completed works of Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon, “Supplements of Natural History, general and V” (Suppléments à l’Histoire Naturelle, générale et particulière V). The image was printed by the Imprimerie royale (the royal printing press of France before the French revolution).
The illustration displays a cape mole rat in a landscape. The illustration was designed by Jacques De Sève and engraved by Antonine Herisset copying the original used in a previous volume.
