Beauty on a Veranda in Moonlight
Nishii Kinsai
ca. 1880-92
As the moon rises, a woman strolls barefoot along a veranda wearing a lilac kimono with a floral pattern green lining, complimented by a blue and pink obi decorated with ravens and egrets. Delicately rendered plum blossoms in bloom creep up on her white collar.
Kinsai was a student of Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839-1892) and Kansai Mori (1814-1894).
