Hoi An Hoard Blue and White Porcelain Dragon Box

ca. 1450-1500

A Vietnamese blue and white porcelain box with a moulded dragon relief lid with marine growth recovered from the Hoi An Hoard shipwreck.


The box lid is decorated with an unglazed moulded relief design of a dragon surrounded by a glazed band consisting of repeating squares showing foliage and geometric design. The bottom segment of the box is decorated around its base with a petal pattern.


The bottom of the piece has a green sticker, a 'HOI AN HOARD' label, and a second barcode label on the side identifying the bowl as coming from lot number 99395.
