Ornamental Comb with Kusadama Design

A gold and vermilion lacquer ornamental moon-shaped comb with decoration of a kusama (medicine ball). These balls were fragrant bags of medicinal herbs decorated with paper flowers and silk tassels, hung during festivals to ward off diseases and as wishes for a long life.
