Brown Pink Oil Paint Tube
Winsor & Newton
ca. 1882-1900
A lead oil paint tube of brown pink produced by Winsor and Newton.
Contrary to what its name might suggest, Brown pink is actually a deep yellow colour.
Also known as Quercitron Lake, this pigment was prepared by binding the dye of the inner bark of the Americal eastern black oak (Quercus Tinctoria, a.k.a. Quercus Velutina) with a ferrous sulfate mordant.
